There are loads of different diets about, but only a few have gotten the widespread attention the Yoli Diet Better Body System (a.k.a. the Yoli Diet) has received. This comprehensive dieting system claims it can help you lose up to 15 pounds in just one week, simply by following the – very detailed and comprehensive – Yoli diet plan.

With catchy names like the YES shake (Yoli’s Essential Shake), Dream, and Passion we get why it’s tempting to just think yolo and say yes to Yoli; but what about the possible Yoli diet side effects? Does the system live up to the hype?

We decided to look into it, so below you’ll find our complete Yoli diet review. Before you start on what could just be another fad diet not burning fat but money instead, be sure to read our yoli diet review!

What Is the Yoli Diet?

‘Yoli’ is an Aztec word meaning ‘to live’

Yoli – not to be confused with your Yolo-attitude after a few too many wines – gets its name from the Aztec language, meaning “to live”. The directors of Yoli LLC – The Better Body Company (founded in 2009) say they will do everything they can “to help people live the best lives possible”. Their mission focusses on three key points, transforming your life:

  • Physically
  • Emotionally
  • Financially

The Yoli diet plan presumedly helps you transform physically, you should feel better emotionally, and by sharing their product with others you can supposedly transform financially as well (think Tupperware-style Yoli parties).

All sounds great, doesn’t it?

Question is: is it all true? Time for a thorough Yoli diet review to see if it can really change your life for the better.

Let’s first have a look at what the Yoli Better Body System entails and how it can – possibly – help you lose weight and reach your desired body. The idea is that it is not just a diet, but more of a complete lifestyle change, helping you to make more healthy food choices with an eating plan and providing you with supplements your body needs.

What the Yoli Diet Better Body System includes

The Yoli weight loss program contains several “kits” – stacks of products you buy at once to help you through a certain phase of your weight-loss process. The available kits are:

The Transformation Kit

This is presented as the starter kit, aimed at first-time Yoli users. It contains a customizable meal plan and a whole bunch of supplements to get you started.

    The Lifestyle Kits

You are on the Yoli diet and finished the first transformation; time for the next step. They call it the lifestyle kits, and they are again complete stacks of products to give you a complete program. Options are the Alkalinity Kit, the Weight Management Kit, the Energy Kit, or you create your own personalized kit.

Aside from just buying their supplements, they want you to become part of the Yoli Community; which supposedly contains loads of perks and ways to make money, get sponsored holiday trips, lease luxury cars, and more. This way, the Yoli Better Body System tries to be more than a fad diet but a lifestyle-changing system instead.

But don’t just be fooled by all the glamorous talks and promises, because it might not be as perfect as they make it sound.

For starters, did you know the Yoli price isn’t quite…Yippee?
Yes, you only live once, but spending $340 – on the starter kit alone – is a LOT. So before you make such an investment, be sure to know if it actually pays off.

      How does Yoli work?

Weight loss, money increase, healthy lifestyle, transformed new you… It all sounds amazing, but let’s have a look at the science part. How does the Yoli 28-day program work exactly?

So most of the products included are quite similar to your standard weight-loss supplements, but they do have a few interesting ingredients. Let’s break them down for you.

      Restoring pH balance

One of the main products is Alkalete, which claims to alkalinize (yep, that’s a word) your body and balance your pH levels. What does this all mean? Let’s have a look at how the company itself describes it:

Sounds quite convincing, but what does science have to say about it?

      The acid-ash hypothesis

You might have heard the term “pH level” before. The pH scale shows how acidic something is. This scale runs from 0 (acid) to 14 (base), with 7 being neutral. On average, your blood’s level is at pH=7.4. If something has a pH greater than 7 it is considered alkaline.

In came the alkaline diet, based on the acid-ash hypothesis. This medical hypothesis claims that if a diet is too acidic it can cause serious health risks. The most commonly mentioned risk is osteoporosis, a disease involving weaker bones and, as a result, a higher risk of bone fractures.

So to stop this from happening, you should adjust your diet to be less acidic and to contain more alkaline foods. Some people go further as to claiming that an alkaline diet can even prevent heart disease, cancer, or other severe illnesses.

The Yoli diet follows this theory, and its product Alkalete is designed to “reduce excess dietary acidic load”, so they claim.

        The science

Since the introduction of this theory, and the popularization of the Alkaline Diet (and diets like the Yoli diet which follow the same principle), many studies have been done to test the theory.

Turns out, there is no real evidence that an Alkaline pH diet actually benefits your health! For example, this study done in 2009 combines extensive research on the acid-ash hypothesis and tests multiple studies, all coming to the conclusion that the hypothesis is incorrect.

Another study focussed on the supposed relationship between alkaline and the treatment of cancer, but this study came back negative as well. A third study looked at the hypothesis in relation to osteoporosis and, again, found no evidence to promote the alkaline diet.

Note: don’t get us wrong though; we are not saying that the Alkaline diet, or Yoli diet’s Alkalete, are bad/harmful for you; there’s just no evidence for the claims they make…

          alkaline diet

Ok, but how about the other products?

So far, they don’t really live up to the hype, but this is just one part of the entire Yoli Better Body System (BBS). The rest of their products seem more “standard” in the sense that they contain ingredients you probably know already, and which are more widely accepted to be beneficial to your health.

The Yoli Essential Shake (YES), for example, is Yoli’s own whey protein blend to make your own protein-filled shake. It contains whey protein, which contains all essential amino acids your body needs. It is mostly associated with strength and muscle, and it’s been a widely used, extremely popular sport’s supplement for years.

Their Passion drink – also included in the Transformation Kit – is a metabolism and energy booster. Basically, it’s a low-calorie energy drink which contains natural caffeine from green tea leaf extract. As such, it can definitely be a pleasant little energy boost that’s more healthy than your standard cup of Joe.

The last ingredient in the Yoli Transformation Kit is their product Pure. This supplement supports the digestive system, due to a blend of probiotics (“good” bacteria, also found in many yogurts for example) and fiber. Probiotics have been quite thoroughly studied and there seems to be evidence favoring the beneficial effects of probiotics.

          It’s more than supplementation, it’s a lifestyle

Specific products aside, the thing that mostly differentiates Yoli Better Body System from standard fad diets is that it’s promoting itself as much more than supplementation: it’s a lifestyle.

Where other diets focus just on losing weight, the Yoli diet says it’s aimed at much more than that. For example, with your Transformation Kit, you will also receive the Better Body System Workbook; a guidebook to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. Think of a yoli diet meal plan, recipes, and everything you need to transform your life.

Does the Yoli Diet work for weight loss?

Ok, all science and lifestyle claims aside, let’s get to the question that most of you will be asking yourself: does the Yoli diet work for weight loss?

Well, that’s a difficult one to answer, because the Yoli diet reviews are incredibly divided. Some say they instantly started dropping pounds, while others say they spend a lot of money for almost no results.

In the end, it seems to be less about the actual products and more about whether you decide to change your general diet while being on the Yoli diet. And that brings us to the benefits of the BBS.

          Benefits of the Yoli Diet

If you read through a positive Yoli diet review or two from previous customers you’ll quickly notice what it is exactly that makes it work for people: it’s the lifestyle change.

As discussed above, the actual ingredients in the supplements might be somewhat beneficial, but they aren’t anything revolutionary. The Yoli diet products won’t instantly melt your excess fat or make you lose weight, but changing to a more healthy diet and being conscious about your food choices does.

Therefore, the main benefit of the Yoli diet is not in the ingredients, it’s in how it helps people change their unhealthy lifestyle by being more conscious about what they eat.

That has to make you wonder though: why pay hundreds of dollars for supplements that don’t work?!

Cost of the Yoli Diet program

This is probably the number 1 reason for complaint of people who used the Yoli Better Body System: the costs.

Just the starter kit alone will cost you a whopping $340, and if you are planning to commit to Yoli then this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you read Yoli reviews online you can find some shocking stories of people spending thousands of dollars on the program.

Don’t forget: there is no real evidence supporting many of their claims. Most people achieve their weight loss goals by adapting their diets. They might follow the Yoli diet plan, and it might help them lose weight, but they pay a lot of extra money for unnecessary supplements to go with that diet plan.

Side effects of the Yoli Diet

Finally, there is one important point we haven’t addressed yet: the possible side effects of the Yoli diet. Several people have reported experiencing Yoli side effects including:

          • Constipation
          • Headaches
          • Increased heart rate

This woman, for one, is definitely NOT a fan of the Yoli diet nor how it made her feel:

Nevertheless, most people don’t seem to witness side effects from taking the Yoli diet (aside from in their wallets), and the side effects described above don’t necessarily have to directly come from the products in the Yoli diet.

          Conclusion

So, what’s the final verdict? What’s the conclusion of our Yoli diet review?

Honestly, there’s just not enough evidence supporting the benefits of the Yoli diet. Furthermore, with incredibly high prices for its products, it’s not something you just try for a month to see whether it works for you.

Despite all that, the Better Body System as a lifestyle changing program does seem to help people in their efforts to lose weight. But stop and think for a sec; do you really need to pay hundreds of dollars to realize that you need to eat more fruit and vegetables…? Your choice.
