The study concluded not only that the rats with low natural fitness were approximately four times more likely than those with high natural fitness to develop breast cancer, but were also more likely to show tumors once the disease began – suggesting the longevity of the condition. What’s more, rats with low fitness were found to have cells more prone to division, which, as most know, is a telltale sign of cancer.
Of course, this study was conducted with rats and not humans. Thus, it’s important to understand that there are some limitations to its findings. However, the findings are still telling: There is a connection between higher physical activity levels and a reduced risk of breast cancer.

How to reduce your risk
